At Inmans we feel that children should be involved in the day to day running of the school. To make this possible we have set up a group of children from the Y2 to Y6 classes. These children have been elected by their peers to represent them on the school council. In some year groups we had joint votes so we decided to have Deputy Council Members too. We therefore have a total of 17 children who meet every other week on a Wednesday lunchtime. There is always a member of staff present but the meetings are very much child led.
The children can offer their opinions and ideas on various aspects of school life. They discuss ideas for fundraising and organise events to raise funds for specific reasons chosen by them. They represent the school on occasion and are asked to do various roles and tasks around the school. Our school council plays a vital role in the life of the school at Inmans.
