Y1 Trip to National Railway Museum

19 Jun 2025

Y1 had an exciting adventure to York, where they explored Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery at the National Railway Museum. This interactive science gallery brought the science behind the railways to life with hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and imagination. The children loved seeing all the different trains and exploring inside of them. They experimented with rocket launches, testing propulsion and power, and worked together to plan routes for balls to travel through The Great Machine — a giant, rolling, clanking contraption full of engineering puzzles! They learned about different types of fuels, tested their building skills in the earthquake simulator, and used teamwork and problem-solving to design structures that could survive a tremor. It was a day full of wonder, excitement, and learning — a fantastic way to explore science in action!
