STEM – Building Roads with Y2

19 Mar 2026

Another Monday Funday – Our lesson inspired by John McAdam who was a Scottish inventor and changed the way roads were built.
A long time ago, roads were often muddy and bumpy, making travel very difficult. McAdam had a clever idea-he used small stones to make roads stronger and smoother. His method, called “macadam roads,” helped people and vehicles travel more easily.
Today, his idea is still used in modern roads, helping us get from place to place safely and comfortably!

In this experiment, we determined which baking material creates the smoothest surface for a toy car to roll on?
